The money will go towards the cost of the $345 million project that's designed to get drivers around the area much faster.

Tolling will be collected on the bridge using E-ZPass or pay-by-plate.

The city has a multi-year tolling scheduled for the bridge -- with tolls for passenger vehicles and motorcycles starting at $1 on E-ZPass and $3 with pay-by-plate.

This schedule contains gradual increases in tolling of around 5 percent across the board through 2035.

The city says toll money will be used for maintenance and operations costs as well as repayment of bonds and loans. The bridge project cost around $345 million to build.

The new bridge rises around 95 feet above the Elizabeth River, and has four lanes from Grassfield Parkway to Interstate 64. City officials say they believe the bridge will help ease congestion in the region.
