PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – On Sunday, gunfire erupted in the parking lot of Issa Bar & Grille and Planet Fitness at the corner of Victory Blvd. and George Washington Highway in Portsmouth.
10 On Your Side got a call from the manager of Issa Bar, who didn’t want his name reported.
He said the bar had long closed before the gunfire, which was carried out in the parking lot.
According to Portsmouth police, around 3:36 a.m. police communications received a 911 call requesting assistance on Suburban Parkway for a man who was shot about a half-mile away from the parking lot.
Police report It was a serious gunshot wound to the lower body.
The victim told police he was shot in the parking lot outside Issa Bar & Grille. He was taken to the hospital and survived.
During that investigation two other men walked into a hospital, also shot in the lower body. Neither man’s wounds were life-threatening.
Police say all three shootings were part of the same incident, and they all took place in the parking lot.
It’s not the first time gunshots have erupted in this parking lot.
On February 28, 26-year-old Lorenzo Bernat was shot in this parking lot. He walked into Chesapeake General before being taken to Sentara Norfolk General, where he later died.
