Thousands lose power in Norfolk outage


NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Thousands of customers lost power Thursday afternoon during an outage in Norfolk.

Dominion Energy Virginia’s outage map showed a little over 2,500 customers without power. the outage affected an area along U.S. 58 — largely between the Poplar Hall and Broad Creek neighborhoods.

Khalilah LeGrand with Norfolk Public Schools said schools were operating “business as usual” during the outage. Phones and internet down were down for a short time at Academy of Discovery, and  Richard Bowling Elementary School had a temporary outage.

LeGrand said bus drivers were warned that traffic lights were out in the area.
