NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A local U.S. Army soldier is out nearly $500 after thieves stole the cash from her car while she was working a second job.

Alexa Peterson was waiting tables at the Dirty Buffalo on East Little Creek Road in Norfolk on Sunday, when she admittedly made a mistake and forgot to lock her doors.

She also left her tip money from the rest of the weekend in her wallet inside the vehicle.

The restaurant’s surveillance camera picked up video of two men in the parking lot around 4 p.m.

One of them goes into her car and is in there for about 30 seconds.

When she got off work later she discovered all of her money, $467, was gone.

If you recognize the men, contact police and remember don’t keep anything valuable in your car and always lock your doors.
