CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) —  Police are continuing to search for a Chesapeake man who has been missing for nearly a week.

The last time anyone saw 27-year-old Dejon “DJ” Riddick was last Tuesday in the Western Branch area of the city. Police believe Riddick could be in danger.

10 On Your Side spoke with his friend, Joshua Wuertz, at the last place where Riddick was seen.

Wuertz says his roommate and Riddick were at his apartment  when he called to check on them. He says his roommate told him Riddick was gone and that he usually takes walks, but always comes back and lets people know where he is.

“It’s scary to an extent. I just try not to think to that point of what could’ve gone wrong,” Wuertz said. “I keep thinking positive and I hope everyone else is thinking positive and hoping and praying that he’s going to come back.”

This past weekend, Riddick family and friends came together to search the area near Chesapeake Square Mall.

“They’re doing as best as they can,” Wuertz said about Riddick’s family. “It’s hard on them. Your son is missing and all. It’s hard. They’re trying to push through.”

Wuertz says dozens of people came out to help and that shows what type of impact Riddick has had on the community.

“There’s nothing bad you can say about him. He’s always there for you. He’s trusting. If you ever need someone to talk to, he’s there for you,” he said.

Wuertz says they are offering a reward for any information can get about his disappearance and want Riddick to come home safe.

Anyone who may know anything about the Riddick’s disappearance or his whereabouts is asked to call the Chesapeake Police Department at 757-382-6161.
