PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — A teenager was killed and two men were injured in a shooting Tuesday night in Portsmouth, police say.
Portsmouth police said officers responded to a call for assistance in the 1500 block of Jefferson Street around 10 p.m. Officers found a man at the scene suffering from a gunshot wound.
Police said officers canvassed the area and found a 16-year-old boy and another man had also been shot. Paramedics took all three to the hospital.
The teen died in surgery, police said.
A 10 On Your Side crew saw the windows shot out on a car as officers investigated the scene.
Police said no suspect information is available at this time.
Members of the police department are expected to hold a RESET (Rapid Engagement of Support in the Event of Trauma) in the community at 3:30 p.m.
Since May, three minors have been shot in Portsmouth.
- On May 28, a boy was shot in the hand on Virginia Ave.
- On Aug.19, a 17-year-old was in critical condition after being shot on Jefferson Street.
- On Aug. 28, a 17-year-old was in serious condition after being shot Lexington Drive.
Also on July 24, a 16-year-old checked into Bon Secours Maryview Medical Center with a gunshot wound on his lower body.
