Teen killed in early morning Chesapeake shooting

CHESAPEAKE, Va, (WAVY) — A teenager was killed in a confrontation with another man early Wednesday morning in Chesapeake, according to police.

Chesapeake police said officers responded to a shooting in a parking lot off George Washington Highway North.

A man was reportedly sitting in his car when he was approached by  another person. After a brief confrontation, police say the man in the car pulled out a  gun and fired, killing the other person.

Police said the person shot was a 17-year-old young man.

The man who fired the shot stayed on scene until officers arrived, and was being cooperative. No charges were being brought up against the shooter, according to police.

While on the scene 10 On Your Side’s Kiahnna Patterson saw police take a man from the scene in the back of a police car; the man was not handcuffed. Also, police escorted a tow truck carrying a Pop-A-Lock truck from the scene.
