DARE COUNTY, N.C. (WAVY) – A swimming advisory has been lifted at a Dare County beach nearly a week after it was issued.
State Recreational Water Quality officials found high levels of bacteria in the water northwest of mile marker 12.5 in Nags Head last week. They said anyone swimming in the waters within 200 feet was at risk for developing gastrointestinal illnesses or skin infections.
Officials said May 8 that bacteria levels have dropped below the standards for swimming.
