Swimming advisory issued after dead fish found at Fort Monroe beach

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — A swimming advisory was issued Tuesday after dead fish were found at the beach at Fort Monroe.

Ellen Bolen, Deputy Commissioner of the Virginia Marine Resources Commission, told WAVY.com there were reports of fish that were killed from Buckroe Beach to Fort Monroe.

Bolen confirmed a commercial fisherman dumped the fish.

VMRC officers and officials with the Department of Environmental Quality responded to the area on Tuesday. A photo from a WAVY viewer showed a couple of fish on the beach at Fort Monroe.
