PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – Two suspicious packages found Saturday at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth was deemed safe, officials say.
Officials said in a Facebook post that around 9:43, two suspicious packages were found onboard Naval Support Activity Hampton Roads-Portsmouth Annex.
Emergency responders, Explosive Ordnance Disposal technicians and Portsmouth Police were on scene. A security perimeter was established around building 3.
The gates were closed to inbound and outbound traffic while crews investigated in the area. The packages were deemed safe at around 1 p.m. and the area is back open.
