Residents who live in Dorchester Square reported several shots during the early morning hours of May 19. Officers responded to the complex just before 4 a.m.

An investigation found an ex-boyfriend had kicked in the door of a woman who lived in the J section of the complex. That person then assaulted her and her children, ages 1 and 2.

The woman called the father of the children, who came to pick them up.

The ex-boyfriend and the children’s father went outside where multiple gunshots were fired. Evidence indicates multiple shooters were involved.

Apartments in the L and J sections were hit by gunfire.

A 30-year-old Southampton County man was grazed in the shoulder by a bullet. He was treated and released from the hospital and was uncooperative with police.

Trevoris Evans is wanted for the following charges:

  • Three counts of burglary
  • Strangulation
  • Three counts of use of a firearm in a felony
  • Discharge a firearm in public
  • Four counts of assault and battery
  • Reckless handling of a firearm
  • Shooting into an occupied dwelling
  • Willfully or maliciously obstruct sending a communication
