Suspect in Franklin Christmas package theft arrested in Suffolk

FRANKLIN, Va. (WAVY) — A man who was wanted in connection to a Christmas package theft in Franklin was arrested Friday morning in Suffolk.

Franklin police say 56-year-old Bernard Lee Clements is accused of taking a package from the home of Lauren Olsen in late-November.

Olsen had recently moved to Franklin from California when the theft occurred. She told 10 On Your Side the stolen package contained some of her daughter’s Christmas presents.

A man was seen taking the package on a porch camera Olsen had installed in mid-November. Franklin police later identified the man as Clements, and obtained warrants for his arrest. 

The 56-year-old is facing charges of petit larceny, two counts of felony destruction of property and two counts of felony grand larceny.
