Suspect in custody after man injured in Norfolk shooting

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A suspect is in police custody after a man was injured in an overnight shooting in Norfolk.

Norfolk police said officers responded the 200 block of Hough Avenue just before 1:30 a.m. There, they found a 56-year-old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. 

He was taken by paramedics to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, but his injuries were not considered life-threatening.

Police said the suspect, 27-year-old Rasheem Walton, of Chesapeake, remained on scene and was taken into custody. He is charged with malicious wounding and use of a firearm in a felony.

A booking photo for Walton was not immediately available.
