CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — A 19-year-old man is facing charges following a police chase that spanned two cities over the weekend.

Chesapeake police said Shalom Seals is charged with felony eluding, possess marijuana, driving on a suspended license, obstruction of justice, and transporting a firearm with an active protective order in connection to the March 31 chase.

Police said the chase started after officers responded to the Marina Point Apartment Complex off Canal Drive in Chesapeake for reports of a fight.

Several suspects got into a Nissan SUV, and the driver sped away after officers tried to stop the vehicle, police said.

The chase ended in a crash at the Victory Boulevard entrance to Interstate 264 in Portsmouth. Multiple suspects were initially detained, but police said only the driver — Seals — has been charged.
