CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — A suspect was arrested Monday afternoon following a police chase that spanned three Hampton Roads cities.
Chesapeake police spokesman Leo Kosinski tells WAVY.com the chased started in the Deep Creek area of Chesapeake just after noon.
Officers tried to pull over a driver after it appeared their vehicle had a faulty inspection sticker, but a chase ensued. Kosinski says the chase continued into Virginia Beach, before it finally ended in Norfolk on Interstate 264 at Military Highway.
At some point, the suspect threw what is suspected to be cocaine out the window, according to Kosinski.
The chase ended around 12:20 p.m. after police deployed spike strips.
Kosinski says Lynnwood Owens was arrested — and charges including driving on revoked license and eluding police are pending.
