SURRY COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) — The Surry County Sheriff’s Office say three students are facing charges after authorities found small amounts of marijuana in their vehicles during a drug search in December.

On Dec. 17, the sheriff’s office used drug-sniffing K-9’s to search at both Luther P. Jackson Middle School and Surry County High School for any illegal drugs.

No drugs were found in either school, but the K-9’s did alert authorities to three vehicles in the student parking lot. A small amount of marijuana was found in all three vehicles.

The student drivers were pulled from their classrooms and are facing criminal charges, and disciplinary action from school administrators, according to the sheriff’s office.
