VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A student at Kempsville Middle School in Virginia Beach was arrested Monday for taking a BB gun to school.
In a message to parents and guardians, Kempsville principal Dr. Patti Jenkins said there were no BBs in the gun, but the student was “openly showing it to friends on the bus.”
Another student reported this to school administrators, Jenkins said.
Parents, please remind your children that weapons of any kind, even toys, are not allowed on school property for any reason. Having a weapon at school leads to serious consequences.
A Virginia Beach police spokesperson said the student has been charged with possession of a weapon on school property, a misdemeanor.
The student will also be facing disciplinary action at the school.
