Stolen vehicle found submerged in the Lafayette River

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – A vehicle found partially submerged in the Lafayette River Tuesday morning was stolen from Virginia Beach, according to Norfolk Police.

Police were called out to the 200 block of La Valette Avenue, near the Virginia Zoo, around 6:30 a.m. after someone spotted the car in the water.

A picture provided by police shows the windows were rolled down and the car was vacant.

The vehicle was reported stolen the day before. It has since been removed from the water.
