SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A crash involving five vehicles blocked all lanes on I-664 North in Suffolk Tuesday and caused injuries, state police say.

Virginia State Police said a tractor-trailer was among the vehicles involved in the crash. Three people were taken to the hospital, but state police said their injuries were not life-threatening.

The crash happened near the College Drive exit on I-664, just before the Monitor-Merrimac Memorial Bridge-Tunnel. A detour was put in place at the exit while crews cleared the scene.

State police said the road was stopped due to debris in the tunnel. A tractor-trailer failed to stop and hit several vehicles in the roadway.

The driver of the tractor-trailer was charged, according to state police.

Images from WAVY reporter Marielena Balouris showed a tractor-trailer was involved in the crash. Traffic cameras near the exit showed several emergency vehicles on scene.
