WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (WAVY) — A small plane overran the runway at the Williamsburg Jamestown Airport on Saturday, nearly ending up in College Creek.

James City County Fire Department officials say it happened around 5:30 p.m.

The 1964 Piper Cherokee aircraft ended up on the bank of College Creek, but it’s pilot was not injured, officials say.

Virginia State Police identified the pilot as Benjamin Fye of Yorktown.

Troopers and the FAA are investigating the incident. Officials say crews from the Williamsburg Fire Department and the York County Fire Department assisted.
