COLINGTON ISLAND, N.C. (WAVY) — Authorities in Dare County think a Monday morning fire at a cafe on Colington Island was the work of an arsonist.

Evidence at the scene made investigators believe the fire at Colington Cafe was set intentionally. The fire was extinguished quickly and only affected the building’s exterior, according to the Dare County Sheriff’s Department.

Authorities are asking anyone with information to call Dare County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Scott Rodriguez at 252-475-5980 or the anonymous Dare County Community Crimeline at 252-473-3111.
