YORK COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) — A second arrest has been made in connection to the death of a bicyclist in York County.

A spokesperson with the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office said 61-year-old Robert Lee Strickland, Jr., of Poquoson, is charged with misdemeanor counts of accessory after the fact and obstruction of justice as well as a felony charge of concealing or compounding evidence.

Strickland’s arrest comes weeks after Brian Leonard Utne was struck and killed on Lakeside Drive in York County, about three miles from his home.

Friends of Utne told 10 On Your Side the 50-year-old was a big member of the local cycling community.

Deputies previously charged 25-year-old Alexander Michael Crosby, of Barhamsville, with felony involuntary manslaughter, felony leaving the scene of a fatal accident and misdemeanor reckless driving.

Strickland is being held at Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail. He was back in York General District Court Monday, Nov. 19 and was denied bond during that hearing. His attorney plans to appeal the bond status.

Crosby was initially taken to Henrico Jail East before he was transferred to VPRJ.
