School bus hits black bear in Suffolk; No injuries reported

SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — No injuries were reported Monday morning after a school bus headed to an elementary school hit a black bear in Suffolk.

Suffolk officials said dispatchers were alerted to the incident in 1200 block of Hosier Road — not far from the Suffolk Executive Airport — just after 9 a.m. 

A Suffolk Public Schools bus that was transporting six students to Booker T. Washington Elementary when it struck a bear. None of the students were hurt.

Officials said the bear got up and ran away after the incident. The bus was not damaged.
