NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — A school bus with two dozen students on board collided with a moped in Newport News Tuesday morning, police say.

Newport News police spokesperson Brandon Maynard said dispatchers received a call about the crash at Union Street and Warwick Boulevard just before 8:30 a.m. Traffic cameras showed the bus in the middle of the intersection with officers directing drivers around the scene.

Maynard said there were two people on the moped at the time of the crash. Both were taken to the hospital, but their injuries were not considered life-threatening.

The 24 students on the bus were not injured, according to Maynard.

Michelle Price, a spokesperson for Newport News Public Schools, said the bus was completing a morning route for Deer Park Elementary School.
