Scholarship established in memory of beloved teacher

PERQUIMANS CO., N.C. (WAVY) – The memory of a beloved teacher will live on through her students. The Perquimans County Schools Foundation is asking for donations in memory of Kim Daugherty.

Last month, Daugherty collapsed during a fire drill at Hertford Grammar School. She died due to complications related to a pulmonary embolism.

It was a great loss for the school district where she worked for 19 years.

Now this fund will help continue her legacy in education.

The Perquimans County Schools Foundation is managing the fund and hopes to use the money for a Perquimans High School senior scholarship and mini-grants for teachers beginning next year.
