Scene clear after bomb threat prompts evacuation at Portsmouth courthouse

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — A bomb threat made to the Portsmouth courthouse building Wednesday morning led to an evacuation.

Lt. Col. Melvin Waters Portsmouth Sheriff’s Office says someone called police and said there was a bomb in the courthouse.

The building was evacuated and authorities worked to sweep the building. Nothing was found, and the scene was cleared just before noon.
