Road back open in VB after crash knocks down power lines

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A single vehicle crash on Indian River Road knocked out power for hundreds of customers and closed a portion of the road.

Dispatchers tell WAVY.com the crash happened around 10 p.m. Wednesday night in the 3000 block of Indian River Road.

Police asked drivers to avoid the area between North Landing Road and Sumter Drive while crews cleared the downed power lines. The road was reopened just before 7:30 a.m. Thursday.

According to Dominion Energy’s outage map, more than 500 customers lost power because of the crash.
