Retired soldier sentenced in stolen government property scheme

NEWPORT NEWS, Va.– Retired Yorktown soldier Francis “Edward” Roach, 55, pleaded guilty Tuesday to receiving and selling stolen property delivered to Fort Eustis. Federal court documents said he made more than 600 orders and fraudulently received more than $2.3 million dollars in goods through General Services Administration.

Federal prosecutors said Roach had some items taken to A&E Automotive Repair in Newport News where he sold the stolen goods and kept the money.

Roach pleaded guilty to theft of government property and faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison when sentenced on October 18.
