News

A mishap summary from the U.S. Navy shows the jet only had a single engine working when it crashed on its final approach during a training exercise in Key West.

Lt. Cmdr. James Brice Johnson and Lt. Caleb Nathaniel King were recovered in the water about a mile away from Naval Air Station Key West. The two men later died at a hospital.

The two aviators were part of the “Blacklions” of Strike Fighter Squadron 213, which is based at Naval Air Station Oceana in Virginia Beach.

The exact cause of the crash remains under investigation.
