WASHINGTON (WRIC) — U.S. Rep. A. Donald McEachin, who represents Virginia’s 4th Congressional District, is recovering in the hospital after being treated for a blood clot last week.

On Thursday, McEachin’s office confirmed reports from the Virginia Mercury to 8News about the status of the congressman’s health.

Rep. McEachin, who has battled colorectal cancer in the past, has reportedly been away from his office since the beginning of April after developing a blood clot and a swollen leg, which has made it difficult for him to walk, his spokeswoman Ariana Valderrama confirmed.

Congressman McEachin, 57, has represented Virginia’s 4th Congressional District since being elected in 2016.
