WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (WAVY) — The area’s first Publix grocery store is less than a month away from opening its doors.
The location at 4660 Monticello Avenue in Williamsburg is set for a 7 a.m. grand opening on Wednesday, October 17.
The employee-owned chain has more than 1, 200 stores in the southeastern United States.
Wegmans, another much-anticipated grocery chain set to open in the area, will open in Virginia Beach in the spring of 2019. Hiring has already begun.
