Power restored following outage in Newport News

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — Power has been restored after an outage left thousands of Dominion Energy customers in the dark Friday morning.

Dominion Energy said the call came in around 3:40 a.m. for a power outage along Jefferson Avenue, starting at Richneck Road, including Fort Eustis Boulevard, on into Newport News Park.

More than 3,600 customers were without power at one point during the outage.

Officials say the outages have been reported at Woodside High School. Oliver C. Greenwood Elementary, New Horizon’s Regional Education Centers. There is no word yet on whether the schools will be on delay, according to officials. 

The cause of the outage is unknown at this time. Stay with WAVY.com for the latest developments.
