UPDATE (Oct. 24): Portsmouth police say officers found 15-year-old Ke’Asya Waits safe. She was turned over to her mother.
PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Portsmouth police are looking for a teenager who was reported missing after she didn’t get onto her school bus Monday morning, her family says.
Police confirmed that Special Victims Units detectives are investigating the missing person’s report filed for 15-year-old Ke’Asya Waits.
The I.C. Norcom High School sophomore left her home in the 1900 block of Atlanta Avenue between 6 a.m. and 6:45 a.m. on Monday to get onto the school bus, but never made it to her bus stop, said her father Terry Waits.
They say its possible the 15 year old was angry since her father took her phone away the night before.”Its ok baby to come home nobody is mad I love you, everybody loves you, everybody is worried sick right now so help us out and come home.” said Waits.
Her Grandmother, Pamela Anstead said she usually watched Ke’Asya walk to the bus stop every morning but not Monday, “I heard nothing which leads me to believe she was coming out of that house and did not want to awaken anybody.”
Now Anstead is worried te teen may have hooked up with someone on social media.
Police said they are still in the early stages of their investigation, but declined to comment on any facts of the case.
