Firefighters in Portsmouth are working a fire that collapsed one house and spread to another Wednesday night.
Crews responded to the fire around 8 p.m. at the unoccupied house at the intersection of Duke and Elm streets.
At last notice, the house where the fire originated had collapsed on three sides, and the flames had spread to an adjacent home.
Firefighters were conducting a defensive attack on that home. The fire at the collapsed house has been extinguished.
Officials say no injuries have been reported, but three adults who live in the second home have been displaced. They were out of the home when the fire at the first house started. The Red Cross is assisting.
The cause of the fire is under investigation at this time.
