POQUOSON, Va. (WAVY) — A Poquoson police officer was arrested Monday and is now faced with a bribery charge.
Police chief Clifford Bowen said Virginia State Police arrested Officer Dearyl Anderson in connection with activities he was allegedly involved in while he was with the Surry County Sheriff’s Office. An arrest log from the Newport News Sheriff’s Office showed Anderson was charged with bribery.
Bowen told 10 On Your Side Anderson was hired in Poquoson in May 2017 from the Charles City Sheriff’s Office. Anderson worked in Surry prior to Charles City.
Anderson has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an internal investigation by the Poquoson Police Department.
