Police: Wanted 19-year-old Hampton man considered armed and dangerous

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) – A 19-year-old still at large and considered armed and dangerous after an attempted maiming incident that happened Saturday, May 12. 

Hampton police were dispatched to the 1300 block of Thomas Street around 2 p.m. for a shots fired call in the area. 

When officers arrived on scene they found damaged to the Y.H. Thomas Community Center and one unoccupied vehicle. 

No one was hurt during this incident. 

Police investigation determined that several individuals were in the area when a verbal fight broke out. During the altercation, two individuals showed their firearms and exchanged gunshots. All of the individuals ran away from the area before police got on scene. 

As a result, Israel Tariq Hyman, a 19-year-old Hampton man, is wanted in connection to this incident.

Hyman currently has warrants on file for two counts of attempt maiming, one count of use of a firearm in commission of a felony and one count of discharging a firearm within 1000 feet of a school.
