CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — A teenager who was shot in Chesapeake last week made up a story about a robbery suspect who had allegedly shot him, police say.
Chesapeake police said the 15-year-old was shot in the foot on July 25 along Paramount Avenue. When officers arrived, he claimed this suspect asked to “run his pockets.”
The teen claimed he told the suspect he had nothing, and that the suspect shot him before fleeing.
Police said Monday an investigation found the teen shot himself in the foot and then made up the story about the attempted robbery suspect. The teen is now facing criminal charges.
The case is still under investigation. Stay with WAVY.com for the latest updates.
