Police: Teen shot during argument at shopping center in Hampton

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — Police are seeking two suspects after a teenager was shot during an argument at a shopping center in Hampton on Friday.

Hampton police said in a news release officers responded to a shooting call in to the 2000 block of Nickerson Boulevard just after 9:45 p.m. 

Police said officers found a 17-year-old male suffering from gunshot wounds inside a Food Lion. Medics took him to a local hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Police said a preliminary investigation found the teen was walking in the shopping center when he was approached by two suspects.

There was an argument between the suspect and the teen, which police said resulted in one supsects pulling out a gun and firing several shots toward the teen. 

Police said the teen fled into the Food Lion seeking help.

Detectives are continuing to investigate the motive and circumstances surrounding this shooting. Anyone with information is asked to call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
