Police: Suspect fled from officer, resisted arrest in Suffolk

SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A Portsmouth man was charged late Sunday night in Suffolk after police say he fled officer and resisted arrested.

Suffolk police said an officer on patrol N. James Drive when he saw a suspicious vehicle around 11:45 p.m. 

The officer made contact with the driver, 31-year-old Wade Leon Lyons, who got out of his car and ran. Lyons is said to have resisted arrest after the officer chased him down on foot.

Lyons is charged with assault and battery of a police officer, distributing marijuana and Fleeing From a law enforcement officer.
