Police: Shot fired during robbery at Newport News Family Dollar

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — No one was injured after a shot was fired during a robbery at a Newport News Family Dollar Wednesday night, police say. 

Newport News police said the robbery happened at the location on Briarfield Road. Officers were dispatched to the scene just before 9:30 p.m.

Police said witnesses reported five to seven suspects wearing masks entered the store and demanded money. One of these suspects fired a shot during the robbery.

The suspects then fled the scene, according to police. No one inside the store was hurt.
