PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Neighbors say it’s been a crazy week at the Victory Mobile Home Park in Portsmouth.
Earlier this week 10 On Your Side told you about a police chase that started in Chesapeake and ended right near the trailer park.
The suspect took off running and shot at police, leaving multiple bullet holes in the windshield of their patrol car.
No officers were injured.
Despite the use of K-9 dogs, police say the suspect got away.
Neighbor Jep Worrell lives in the mobile home park, and he says he and his wife heard the commotion.
“My wife was in bed; we heard the gunshots,” said Worrell.
Then on Thursday morning, Worrell said he was trying to get back home, but police had the entrance to Victory Mobile Home Park blocked off once again.
“Just wondering what’s going on?” said Worrell.
Police confirmed there was a SWAT operation underway.
They couldn’t release many details, but did confirm it was connected to the shooting earlier in the week.
Another neighbor named Jim says he saw the SWAT team pull up in the morning.
“The next thing I know, they’re surrounding the trailer over there, they thought the suspect that shot at police officers lived in that trailer,” said Jim.
Jim heard loud booms and came out to find the mobile home’s windows blown out.
Police have not yet said why they were at this specific mobile home, but they did confirm that no one was arrested.
