CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — 10 On Your Side has learned criminal charges will not be filed against a child Care center in Chesapeake.

Parents filed at least five complaints with the Chesapeake Police Department earlier this year that their children had been assaulted by staff members at the Deep Creek United Methodist Church Child Care Center.

Parents pulled several children out of the center following the allegations.

Chesapeake police spokesperson Leo Kosinski said it was determined after an investigation that charges will not be filed. The case is considered closed.

Center spokesperson Wayne Sneed said he was unaware of the police decision not prosecute until he was contacted by 10 On Your Side.

It is unclear what — if anything — Child Protective Services may do regarding the case. Kosinski left the impression what CPS will do is more standard operating procedure analysis, rather than criminal intent.
