HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — Two suspects are wanted after police say a man working on a vacant home was robbed and assault at gunpoint in Hampton.

Hampton police say the incident happened Sunday morning on Lee Street — between Kecoughtan Road and S. Armistead Avenue. A 49-year-old man working on a vacant home saw two people in the backyard.

Police say one of the suspects pulled out a gun while the other began going through the man’s pockets, taking out cash. A struggle ensued, however, as this suspect tried to take his wallet.

The armed suspect reportedly hit the man twice with the gun. Both suspects fled, and were last seen running through backyards toward Newport News Avenue.
