Police: Man robbed at gunpoint, assaulted during home invasion

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — A man was robbed at gunpoint and assaulted during a home invasion over the weekend in Newport News.

Newport News police say a 53-year-old was getting ready to leave his home on Henry Clay Drive, when a an armed suspect opened his door and backed him into another room.

The suspect reportedly kept demanding money, before going to the front door and motioning for a second suspect. This suspect, who was also armed, held the man at gunpoint while the other searched the home.

Police say the suspects got away with cash and the man’s wallet. One point during the ordeal, police say the man was struck with a firearm.

Images and surveillance were released on Monday, showing one of the suspects at a a local area convenient prior to the home invasion.
