Police: Man resisted arrest after speeding in Suffolk neighborhood

SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A Suffolk man is facing charges for allegedly assaulting an officer after he was pulled over for speeding on Friday.

Suffolk police said an officer patrolling in the 5000 block of S. Links Circle saw 27-year-old Brandon Larelle Kelly driving a vehicle at a high rate of speed through a neighborhood.

This happened in the Harbour View section of the city.

The officer stopped Kelly, who police said disregarded police orders and started walking toward a home. 

Police said Kelly “physically resisted arrest” and entered the home.

Kelly was arrested and charged with assault and battery of a police officer, resisting arrest – obstruct justice, fleeing from a law enforcement officer and failing to obey order of law enforcement officer.

Police said Kelly was also issued a summons for speeding.
