NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A man is in custody after a hit-and-run incident involving a Norfolk sheriff’s deputy, police say.
The hit-and-run happened Sunday afternoon around 12:20 p.m., according to Norfolk police, when the deputy was directing traffic for First Baptist Church at 312 Kempsville Road
Police say James P. Somerville became impatient and drove off, striking the deputy with his vehicle’s mirror in the process. He was tracked down later Sunday afternoon and charged with hit-and-run, personal injury and disregard police command to stop.
He’s being held in the Norfolk City Jail without bond.
