Police: Employee fires at suspects in robbery at Chesapeake store

News

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — An employee fired at suspects during a robbery Tuesday morning at a Chesapeake store, police say.

Chesapeake police spokesman Leo Kosinski said a red car with four males inside pulled up to the Smoke Shop on Western Branch Boulevard around 11 a.m. One them went into the store armed with handgun and wearing a bandana over his face.

Police said the suspect took some items from the store and a display, before he ran out the store and got back in the car. One of the employees, who was armed with a handgun, followed him outside and shot at the suspects’ car as it sped away.

On Wednesday, police released new photos showing one of the suspects as well as the suspect vehicle. It is unknown whether the car or anyone inside it was hit.
