Police: Elderly person hit by vehicle in Va. Beach


VIRGINIA BEACH, Va  (WAVY) — An elderly person was injured after being hit by a vehicle in Virginia Beach Monday afternoon, police say.

Virginia Beach police spokesperson Tonya Pierce said officers were called to the scene around Holland Road and Chimney Hill Parkway just after 12:30 p.m.

Police said a driver was turning left out the Chimney Hill Shopping Center as the pedestrian was trying to cross the road toward the shopping center. The pedestrian stepped into the roadway, outside of a crosswalk, and was hit.

Police said the person hit was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, but was later listed in stable condition.
