Police: Driver charged with DUI after man hit, killed


NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A man has been charged with driving under the influence after police say he hit and killed another man Wednesday night in Norfolk.

Police said 39-year-old Jonathan Justice was trying to cross North Military Highway around 10:40 p.m. when he was hit by a Dodge Caravan that was traveling northbound.

First responders found Justice lying in the roadway unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the driver, 50-year-old James Thompson, stayed at the scene. He was charged with DUI as well as driving while suspended.

Thompson is being held at Norfolk City Jail without bond.
