Police chase suspect arrested in barricade situation indicted on charges

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A wanted fugitive who was arrested last April following a barricade situation has been indicted on several charges.

Authorities say 35-year-old Jermel McSwain had been on the run from a police chase that began in Chesapeake and ended near a Portsmouth mobile home park.

The standoff between McSwain and law enforcement lasted nearly seven hours.

Court records show McSwain was indicted on several counts, including two counts of attempted capital murder, two counts of use of a fire arm in a felony, felony in possession of ammo, eluding police, second offense possession with intent to distribute Schedule I/II controlled substance.
